The only real reason I wanted Sony to ever bring back PS2 BC for the PS3 was so I could finally play God of War I and II... and now it doesn't matter :)

Sony are releasing God of War I and II on one Blu-ray Disc, remastered at 720p for the PS3, as the "God of War Collection".

SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT AMERICA ANNOUNCES
GOD OF WAR® COLLECTION, A NEW COMPILATION OFFERING FOR PLAYSTATION®3
Exclusive God of War® and God of War® II Blu-ray Disc Compilation
Available This Holiday Season

FOSTER CITY, Calif., September 1, 2009 – Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced today a new and exclusive PlayStation®3 (PS3™) offering for the critically acclaimed God of War® franchise, God of War® Collection. Scheduled for release this holiday season, God of War Collection will feature reworked versions of both God of War® and God of War® II on a single Blu-ray Disc™ at full 1280 x 720 resolution. Both critically acclaimed games, which were originally developed for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring PlayStation®Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the first time (included for both games). God of War Collection offers substantial value to PS3 consumers, the compilation of both best-selling games costing just $39.99 MSRP.

Same, I've never played those 2 but when they showed God of War III at E3, it looked really awesome. So I may have to check them 2 out before the third is released.

Its devil may cry from capcom set in greece time frame. with chain reach weapons replacing dantes guns for long range attacks. The first game was very platform based with repeated "walk the plank" sections. the Real Time Events from the game cube that have been in most games since got boring fast.

Same "hack 'n' slash" genre as DMC, yeah, but I've never read the kind of praise I've read for GoW for DMC though. GoW II was widely acclaimed as being one of *the* best PS2 games ever.

GOW2 was amazing, never got to play the first one though. My PS3 has BC but I'd much rather get this disc with both on it remastered.

Oh yeah, before I buy this aswell I think I'll wanna see some comparison screenshots from the original games. Just so I can see what the difference actually is.

Well they will be running at 720p so I imagine the frame rate and textures will be slightly improved.

I do remember that God of War 2 had an enhanced mode when run through a PS3 but only in the USA.

Still no word on a UK/Europe release for this.

I've pre-ordered the REGION FREE US version from Movietyme.com (http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=46715&osCsid=28c9ed02d59dad24dbb58c0a1cac957d). Currently £27.99, although it was £26.99 when I pre-ordered it.

Movietyme just declined my card! I've got over £400 in my bank so it shouldn't deny it. I'll have to try it again.

I had an email (yesterday I think) which said it was "Processing". It also says "Processing" when I log into Movietyme.com.

My copy came today. :) It took less than a week to come when Movietyme said it'd come within 7-14 days. Maybe it was cause of express delivery... I had a quick go on Hard, I can't even do the giant fish bit!

My copy came yesterday. No import VAT (good ol' Movietyme :D ).

Played the first chapter/act/whatever last night, on "Normal". Seems harder than current games!

Very good so far I think, although my fingers get tired from the button bashing!

I'm upto Athens Rooftops. It's a really hard game. I'm playing it on Normal too. I didn't realise how much button bashing would be involved.

Yeah.

I am enjoying it more than Ninja Gaiden & DMC4 so far though, which I found too hard (NG) & too boring (DMC4).

I think my favourite Hack 'n' Slash is actually Heavenly Sword. Great fun, great graphics, & a good story, voice acting, etc.

They've finally confirmed a European release for this, just no date for it.. just some time next year.

http://playstationlifestyle.net/2009/11/27/god-of-war-collection-slashing-into-europe-next-year/

The source also mentions the possibility of an another collection containing Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus.
