I can't find this discussed anywhere else, so I thought I'd start something on it.

I went to stick into my browser 'www.cableforum.co.uk' and knocked Enter after www.cable.

I would have expected this to go to a 404 page, but no... I got this: http://advancedsearch.virginmedia.com/subscribers/assist?url=www.cable

Now, I don't think I ever asked Virgin Media to 'advanced search' anything - especially through Yahoo (bleugh).

Some investigation gives me this option: https://my.virginmedia.com/advancederrorsearch/settings

Frankly, I don't know whether this just puts a 'no' selection into my cookies for this or whether it does it by account. I sense it's the former.

I want unfettered internet access - i.e. a pipe to the internet - not "modified" internet access. I didn't sign up to an AOL wannabe!!

Any thoughts?

I think I'll select "no"...

It's actually the latter, it does so by account, it was discussed at length here: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/33654059-virgin-media-hijack-customers-browser-search.html
