Hi, We've been getting consistently poor speeds over the last 2 weeks from our 20 Mb line. Time of day doesn't affect speed, and we're definately not hitting any caps.

I've had a look at some other posts and hope I have included everything relevant for a nice person to peruse my case.

Have completed all tests connected directly to the modem.

Was hoping someone may know what the issue is, or let me know the best way to get results from the tech support. We've only had the connection recently restored (about two months ago) after an outage of well over a week.

Any advice is appreciated.

Power levels are fine - how are you connected to the VM kit?

Ethernet to the modem.

Onboard - Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E GBE NIC. I get the same issues on multiple pc's aswell as connecting through the mireless router... same speeds.

From what I can see, everything looks fine "locally"

There could be some other issues - overloaded UBR etc etc - I would suggest a call to Tech Support (in the day) to avoid india where possible.

Ok, thanks for the help. Is it worthwhile mentioning these tests were done and I got feedback from this forum?

I've got the same problems but it's Virgin's fault, not ours. It seems that it's problems with the UBR and it's only affecting 20mb users. Maybe you could try downgrading to 10mb and see if that helps. Virgin ain't very good when it comes to dealing with speed problems i'm afraid.

I had similar speeds which slowly became worse on my 20Meg line and it turned out to be a corrupted firmware file caused by multiple attempts to migrate the service to file 1.1.

As VM has apparently abandoned attempts at migration I suspect that many modems have been ruined.

Get the tech to plug his\her laptop direct into your modem and get a second line tech to monitor the download. Losses from the modem are indicative of modem failure and a simple change out is the answer. My line parameters also looked perfect and fooled the Indian CS into thinking that all must be OK, which of course it wasn't.
