Advice please :)

Hey everyone :tu:
So i'm out of contract with Virgin now and i'm wondering if i can get any better deals, as an existing customer obviously.
I currently pay for Virgin BB XL (20mb) and Landline (Talk Unlimited) and just got my bill, £67 which is about average for me. I'm interested in getting the V+ HD box and Tv L Package as i only have Freeview nowadays.

I went to the "bundles" section of Virgins site and out of curiousity, done a bundle which consisted of BB XL, V+HD Box with channels, Landline M and it quotes me with £35 which'd be great! :shocked: but is that just new customers? or not for the whole 12month contract?

Oh also i'd like to have another box (doesn't have to be a V+HD box) for downstairs Tv aswell but have no idea how much extra that'd cost. Can anyone give me a little pricing/advice on packages please? What's the best i can get?

I'm sure virgin had a mini site maybe someone will know what i am on about and dig it out but it said something on the lines of we treat our existing customers the same as new deals and such like. or maybe give them a ring or just do it through internet then that way bam if they try an overcharge just say look it quoted me 30 od quid and don't pay lol.

You can switch to the triple XL deal which was £56 when I signed up (as an existing customer) but I believe it has gone up by a couple of pounds since. This is XL TV (which includes your V+ subscription), 20Mb broadband, and XL Phone. That is existing customer costs, not new customer costs.

For an extra tenner, which is about what you are paying now, you can also have 50Mb broadband.

Extra box is a fiver on top as has already been stated.

Think i'm gonna go for the 20m BB/L Phone/L Tv, suits me pretty good and would be nice to save some moolah!!
Is the V+HD box worth it in your opinion? I don't watch Tv too much but i'd like to get a few of them (scifi, discovery, skyone) plus it'd be nice to have it in HD, how many channels actually come through in HD though?

I had been a customer with NTL / Virgin for several years. I phoned to complain that if I took out a new contract now for exactly what I had it would cost me a couple of quid less.

The call was well worth it, I mentioned I was thinking of getting a V+HD Box as well. The upshot was, as a loyal customer Virgin knocked £9.90 of my monthly bill & gave me the V+HD box for nothing! It pays to actually call rather than just upgrade online...you get a much better deal as an existing customer.

And yes, I think the V+HD box is great, Picture definitely improved and pausing live TV is fab...no more missing things coz my Mum phones! Limited choice of HD channels at the moment, but bound to increase.

Absolutely totally agree with this, i have 2 v+ boxes, 50 mg b/b, xl tv and landline phone, all in all i pay £72 p/month plus calls outside my xl phone package, (worth noting at the time i paid £99 for each installation of the v+ boxes, but now i think they are around £49 each installation).

I get a fantastic picture on the panasonic 42 inch plasma and 37 inch LG lcd with hdmi leads.
