Hello, as I have been unable to find people I know with 50mb or google similar questions, I request some infomation if at all possible on the following please:

1) As 20Mb is DOCSIS2.0 Network and 50Mb is on 3.0, does this mean they have different traffic loads and share different bandwidth?
2) Would you expect a difference at all in terms of latency stability to various servers?
3) Is there any difference in latency in general?
4) Would you expect an overall improvement for ping/latency spiking under peak stressed traffic hours i.e. say 8PM?

As for why, I may or may not upgrade for 50mb next month. I am a heavy traffic user but also a absolute addicted online twitch gamer (QuakeLive, CoD's, UT) and also deal alot with streaming. During summers and xmas period in particular, the 20Mb service has alot of stability issues and is often double it's overall ping to any server with consistent spiking and dipping being more of a concern as that causes alot of glitches.

If 50mb is just the same, I may upgrade. If it's worse, I will not upgrade. If it's better, I will upgrade for sure.
Thank you for answering!

I think the difference in latency is non-existent but I think obviously the main recongniseable is the download and upload speeds, I think the rest is the same concerning latency.

So with DOCSIS2.0 to 3.0 there is nothing different in terms of performance, stability, reducing in peak traffic causing unstable latencies for people on the network, etc?

As 50Mb users have a lot more bandwidth you are most likely to have smooth net usage anytime of the day just depends on your area and if the upgrade was done correctly.

Also remember that 20Mb isn't on Docsis2

DOCSIS 1.1 is what 20Mb users are running on (some of them)

Thanks for replies
Yes on my event log I am on 1.0, but I am confused what benefite you personally would gain if it was 2.0 or 3.0, nevermind the bandwidth. If nothing, then I'm asking the wrong questions :)
