I've recently been upgraded to 20Mb broadband and am concerned that, whilst it's not as slow as some people's seem to be, it never gets above 10Mb during evenings and weekends. I seem to consistently get about 6Mb or less.

If I do a test outside the peak hours, it pretty much hits 20Mb every time.

I have logged a more or less ignored complaint through the website and spoken to 150 who told me my "router" at the Virgin end is over-loaded - so much so it actually failed last weekend as was off all Saturday.

Anyway, I want to get some evidence together so I can put something official in writing.

Is there some kind of automatic scheduled test I can install locally that I can use to build up a picture of the speeds over the course of a few days?

If no one comes up with with any thing then you could have a look at the Stop Watch feature of the tbbMeter from Thinkbroadband which may work if you can set it to retain the results. I know I can gather daily, monthly and weekly statistics on my usage but I don't know whether it will do the same with the data you get from the stopwatch. It may be worth a look. Someone on the tbb forum (http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/threads.php) may have an idea if it is possible
