similar thing happened to me when the engineer did come round he tried to tell me that we would be charged as the box, that telewest fitted may years ago, was not their responsibility. The proverbial hit the fan and after calls to virgin it was repaired as it should have been, was going to say free but not really free as it is part of the service Im paying for.

If you want a faster SLA then get a business line, but 4 days is reasonable for a home line whether you're on VM or BT

There's no such thing as a fault free service.

4 days is reasonable for residential users due to easy access to alternatives such as mobiles, payphones and wirefree internet access.

BT will have different policies in rural areas and both BT and Virgin Media will have policies surrounding the vulnerable.

I would say 4 days, is pretty good! Not perfect, but quick enough! BT is far worse, sometimes up to 3 weeks to get an openreach engineer!

I have always known BT respond pretty quickly, usually within a day or two. A big plus for BT is that they will instantly divert your incoming calls to a mobile, at no charge, whilst your line is down.

Hmm, I;'ve had nothing but trouble with OpenReach engineers but that could just be my experience.
