Hi,

Have been having huge issues with my broadband for a few months but the problem usually fixes itself within a few hours but now its getting quite annoying. Had a quite period for a few weeks then it happened yesterday night for about 5 hrs and have not had a connection from 11:30 to about now.

Well the modem is dropping its connection and even a restart does not seem to be effective as it usually takes a few hours to even 6 hours to correct itself. Dont really like to phone up tech support as they keep asking me to turn it off and on which after doing it hundreds of times before i ring up does only waste my time.

I have some info from the cable modem: (i am on a 10MB broadband when its working)

Cable Modem Downstream
Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 1
Downstream Frequency : 586750000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 6952 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps12Increment17
Downstream Receive Power Level : -8.4 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 37.1 dB

Cable Modem Upstream
Upstream Lock : Locked
Upstream Channel ID : 3
Upstream Frequency : 34000000 Hz
Upstream Modulation : QAM16
Upstream Symbol Rate : 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream transmit Power Level : 61.0 dBmV
Upstream Mini-Slot Size : 2

I have a feeling there might be something wrong but dont really know what the figures should generally be.

If anyone could give me a idea to what is wrong i would be very grateful

Thanks

Your upstream power level is too high and will require a tech visit.

Faults on 151 option 2 from your Virgin Media Phone. It's absolutely free.

Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line.
