View Full Version : Signal loss when moving cable modem?

I'm a little unsure about this one so I'm looking for some advice...

I've recently got 20Mb service with an Ambit modem and it's working fantastically but I'm wanting to move the cable modem. I need about 20m of cable to take it round the house (outside) and in to my office at the side.

I know I need RG6 cable and F type connectors (which I'm fine doing because I've done TV installs before) and I'll get the best cable and connectors I can, but I've been told I might get a lot of signal loss.

The existing cable runs under the garden then 100m down the street to the box, is another 20m going to make any difference anyway?

Anyone extended the cable and had any issues?

Thanks,

Trevor.

You should be fine for another 20m, you could also use a patch cable.
