Trying to watch videos on Virgin in the evenings is pretty much a waste of time.

When i was on, 10meg & 20meg youtube was horrible! It would be great one week then completely useless trying to watch videos the next.

Upgraded to 50mb not too long ago and its great with youtube now, even at peak times etc you can watch em all in HD etc. love it!

Sky seems to be less oversubscribed.

What are the minimum download speeds for Youtube/BBC iPlayer with Virgin @ 10/20 and 50mbps?

Youtube should work on 2mb or better, maybe 5mb for HD videos.

The problem is not the line speed, it's congestion on the Virgin Media network.

6pm and 9pm are the worst times. 6pm is when people get home from work/university and start watching all the videos people sent them links to, catching up on news etc. 9pm is when all the downloaders have their software set to kick in, so there is a massive bandwidth spike as they all start off.
