I am still getting very low speeds for browsing and downloading, do these power levels look right?
By the way I hear that there is problems for people in the EH4 and EH12 areas of Edinburgh, would this have an effect for EH14?

Cable Modem Downstream
Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 4
Downstream Frequency : 331000000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 5360.537 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps32Increment4
Downstream Receive Power Level : 9.8 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 38.4 dB

I called VM tech support, found it hard to understand what the tech was saying, but anyway from what I could understand from his conversation was that he sent some signals to my modem and said something about it's fixed now, when I asked him if there was a problem he kept on saying it's fixed now.

Well I am back to the proper speeds now, so whatever he did worked, but I am wondering what would have happened if I hadn't called them, would I have been on the slow speed for good?

More to the point..why am I paying more for my 10Mb and getting a slower speed?

You seem to consistently have 2000b/s more than my config yet you pay less.

you download 10242000
me download 10240000
you upload 514000
me upload 512000

Sure, M get less "allowance" before STM kicks in... I leech overnight when STM isn't in force anyway so this isn't a point worth arguing about.

I seem to remember "L" always got the worst deal despite it being the "original" broadband package. Nothing ever changes huh?

And no, I didn't get slower speeds earlier. (lets keep on-topic huh)

As for your speed issues: I found this using Google (ideal readings apparently)

Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR): 32dB-50dB
Power Level: -5 to 5
Upstream Power: 32dBmV-50dBmV
Not gospel but I suspect it's accurate enough. If your readings are outside those figures and you have issues, call VM.

My own upstream is 52.5dBmV but isn't yet causing problems. When it does, I'll be calling VM.

Just thought to report the speed this morning after having to call VM support, he had to send a signal to my modem apparently, but I couldn't understand him when I asked him why this had to be done in the first place, all he said was it's fixed now.
