View Full Version : Problems with router
Hello People,
I am having problems with my internet connectivity. The problem is that the internet works for a bit and then it goes off, when i look at the modem i see that the ethernet light has gone off. The computer stays connected to the network but I cant browse the net and there is no internet connection. I phoned virgin and they sent a technician who changed the modem, so i am guessing that it's the router that's not working properly. I have also changed the ethernet wire. I also wanted to know if i would be able to get a free router from virgin I am currently on the broadband M 10mb package. At the moment i have a zyxel p320w router.
Any advice would be much appreciated, Thanks.
The router wouldn't be free on size M.
You would have 2 options with Virgin you can get the Netgear WGR614 wireless G router (http://www.netgear.co.uk/wireless_firewall_router_wgr614.php) for £40 or the Netgear WNR2000 wireless N router (http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/WirelessNRoutersandGateways/WNR2000.aspx) for £50 both with full technical support, if you are interested just call 150 or 0845 454 1111 and order one from Customer Services.
If you purchase a 3rd party router then Virgin will not offer support.

Yes that router model sounds a bit crap. Try a Netgear WNR2000, thats what I have and it works fine. £50 a good price - probs get cheaper elsewhere though.
So by all the replies i'm guessing it's the router that's the problem?

For £50 you get full technical support from Virgin though which is the real advantage.

judging by the amount of detail you have given I'm guessing it could be you router as well........... or maybe you pc...or is it a laptop or your new modem .....or virgin media........or the software you are running........or spyware.......or a virus?????;)
