View Full Version : PC Guard now powered by Kaspersky
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/broadband/pcguard.html
Award-winning virus protection that's safe and fast. It's powered by Kaspersky, one of the world's best internet security providers
Although this being Virgin, you don't seem to be able to download that version (yet)

well theres a very good reason there not to use it specially if you are not tech minded
Kaspersky is awful for the regular user and ive had to fix loads of problems caused by it

I will continue to use kaspersky as it's brilliant and I've never had a problem with it, looks like if I use this I don't have to pay for it any more :)

I had a customer resently that when I investigated her problems (with Sage on a business machine) it totally locked us out and Sage tech could not help Kaspersky to blame there have been 2 or 3 others this year
You are not a novice user Dilli ;)
I've got avast professional so it worth ditching that for this new kaspersky powered pc guard?
It should be available in Selfcare now just click this link PC GUARD (http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginmedia/pcguard/find-out-more/)

Does not work for me. Comes up with error message not enough privileges to perform that action.

Kaspersky is a pain in the backside
Its probably 2009 for now - but no doubt will upgraded to 2010 eventually
BTW PC Guard 8 is the Kaspersky version
I've just upgraded to version 8 from version 6 and my computer is faster at loading now. But the only difference to the old version I have noticed is that it automatically grants internet access to certain programs now rather than asking to allow or block them.

Puit it on using the upgrade option from VM website (already had PC Guard).
The experience was less user friendly than it used to be and took a long, long time. Had to reboot the computer twice as the first time it did not go on to the internet (it always has in the past - must be to do with downloading PC Guard) and PC Guard said it could not start without checking my account which needs an internet connection. Rebooted again and all is now well.
It looks and feels exactly like the old version. In fact, if BenMcr had not said Kapersky is version 8, I would have queried whether it had put on the new one.
It has just scanned for spyware and found 99 cookies, but instead of putting them into quarantine (as the old one did) it has just told me about them and left them there! What good is that?
Has anyone tried PCguard Total yet? And are there any screenshot? :)
