Try a download manager like FDM to increase the number of connections. Some sites won't be able to max your bandwidth on a single connection.

I get confused between megs and mbs whatever, but on a 10meg line downloading at 1.2 megs/s is top speed!

You aren't confusing megabits and megabytes are you? Connections are measured in megabits and transfers are measured in megabytes.

Your connection is 10 megabits. Convert that to megabytes (divide it by 8, as there are 8 bits in a byte) and you get 1.25 megabytes a second absolute theorectical maximum (you'll never get that as there are some overheads)

So when you say you're getting 1.2 meg, do you mean transfer (megabytes) or connection (megabits which is 153.6 k/s transfer)

mB or MB - Megabytes

Mb or mb - megabits

Nope as mB would be millibytes and mb would be millibits :p:

A capital M is the symbol for Mega..

No such thing as a millibyte! Perhaps you're thinking of mebibits/bytes? MiB, which is the same really as Mb/MB
