Ok, been reading around on here and havent seen much related to my problem

Just been upgraded from 2meg to 10meg, noticed it when downloading Vista's SP1 other night after a format and was downloading at 900+ kbps

Since then i have never had more than 5meg, usually get 2.5meg although have had less than quarter of a meg for long periods of time.

I'm not a heavy downloader and have never gone over the "capping" amount, I do play the PS3 online often, could that be an issue?

My upload is always stable and never drops. I have a silver Ambit 120 as my modem and a Belkin Wireless N1 router any help much appreciated.

I do have a new black modem from Virgin that I was sent when I kept getting connection loss a few months ago but that problem sorted itself after a weekend so figured it was Virgins problem and never swapped modem. Could swapping the modem fix this?

Thanks for taking a look, hoping for a easy fix so I don't have to call India =]

Edit: 6Meg now but still have not seen higher

the upload transmit power is very high - reboot the modem and call Tech Support

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/26006-cable-modem-signal-levels.html

the downstream SNR is a bit lower but i think theres no concern best ask Tech Support or Moldova

You need to call Tech Support to get that Ambit 256 added to your account and bin that NTLhome 120 piece of junk, and even if you get India the will be no problem giving them the HFC MAC address from the base of the modem as thats who I spoke to when I replaced mine.

Downstream Receive Power Level : -3.4 dBmV Spot on
Downstream SNR : 29.5 dB Should be ok on a NTL connection

Upstream Transmit Power Level : 57.50 dBmV Borderline to high

It is possible the new modem may stabilise your power levels.

Today you will either get India or Scotland best to call this morning or if required any day from 0800 for a UK call centre.

If they send anyone a modem who is still using the piece of junk issued 5/8 years ago when we were on 512kb do not stick it in the cupboard get it added onto the account because we have sent it for a reason, your old one is an antique.

Only had it sent because of connectivity problems your end that was sorted over a weekend as I said and previously being on 2meg there was no need for it.

But I do see what your saying
