Hi all,

Has anyone in the TW1 area seen any issues with their providings recently?

My service became intermittent as of at least Thursday, could have been earlier I wasn't at home, and has been out completely since last night. It's not able to range to an upstream.

You may also note a large increase in upstream transmit power - I note that my STB (which I never use ;) ) is able to lock to an upstream but is transmitting nearly 20dBmV higher power than usual, suggesting a network issue.

Virgin are sending a tech to my home on Monday, but some idea if this is just me or if it's affecting an area would be good. It's unlikely to be affecting much more than just my node at most but hey, there might be someone here in the same 1,000 home area as me :)

Thanks.

Damn you all again - they 'fixed' it on the 2nd July, been up and down though mostly up since but is now fed up and down.

Evidently 50 doesn't just mean 50Mbit, but also 50% downtime.

If a Virgin tech wants my MAC so they can have a laugh at my flap list stats please feel free to PM me.

Just a quick 'caveat emptor' note regarding the 50Mbit service. I went through all the times I'd contacted support on the newsgroups since 50M install...

Back but with some minor issues...

File size transferred : 100.0 MB (104857600 bytes)
Total time taken : 406.34 seconds (406344 milliseconds)
Throughput : 258.0 KB/sec [Kilobyte-per-second]
= 0.26 MB/sec [Megabyte-per-second]
= 2064.0 Kbps [Kilobit-per-second]
= 2.06 Mbps [Megabit-per-second]

Ping statistics for 212.250.162.12:
Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 82, Lost = 18 (18% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 8ms, Maximum = 147ms, Average = 19ms

Still no clear idea of what the fault is either :(

Credit Where Due
Today Virgin Media had 2 vans and a car, 2 network engineers and a presumably senior engineer, present in this area working on the network issues.

So credit where due, a strong response to the issues here, and given the ongoing resource issues outstanding.

Thank you Virgin Media - this restores a little faith!

I would imagine tech support to be a good place to start.
