I'm really hoping someone could help me with a problem that has developed since my Virgin Media internet service went down last week for 5 hours.
My Windows live messenger and Yahoo messenger disconnect and reattempt to connect every minunte of so. Youtube only plays the first 3rd of the video. Im sure this is an Internet issue as it occurs on both laptops i have.
Any help would be gratefuly appreciated.

What about a router?

Do you have one, could that be the cause of your problem?

Are you using a wired connection or Wifi?

If using wifi - whats the signal strength like?

The router doesn't seem to be the problem as a direct cable to my laptop/xbox produces the same results. Prior to this problem my connection was top notch, now it seems as if Xbox live content stops downloading. I also noticed that when downloading binaries from usenet i have the same problem of "stalled" downloads. My router is "Excellent" signal strength. Im really baffled by this as i had flawless internet before.

Many thanks for any help so far.

it seems downloads (in firefox) need to be paused (when the download stalls) and then resumed to actualy finish them - if that helps.
