Is anyone having problems getting access to 1and1 hosted websites from their VM connection?

I can get to www.1and1.co.uk and a few other sites that I know are hosted by 1and1 but none of my own sites.

"Copyright © 2009 Cable Forum | Hosted By 1&1" (http://www.1and1.co.uk/?k_id=10164751)

This being 1 you can access :) Have you checked that anyone else can access the sites in question?

Yeah

I cant access several sites i could earlier ( not just 1to1 sites ) ive only been able to access this site for the first time in over an hour by setting the proxy in FF.

Member of a car club that uses that host and cant access that.

Must be some sort of routing issue as i couldnt access this site via my iphone either.

id ring up to ask but i cant be bothered to wait in a queue to be called a liar when i say my pc isnt riddle with spyware after their "tests"

Just checked my car club site and can get on it via the proxy so its a VM issue

You can't pin it down to a VM issue until you have done a traceroute to the site in question, it could be the fault of 1 of the peers they use.

Maybe...made a slight assumption in that i cant resolve 1and1 ( for example ) sites WITHOUT using the Virginmedia proxy . Proxy enabled i can. Its weird as this morning it was all working fine. Cant post to the newsgroups as i havent got OE installed anymore or have a news group reader

Just have to wait till it all sorts itself out i suppose.

I rember this happening at least twice before with both vm and 1and1 denying resp - I believe it turned out to be a VM issue.

A tracert is not always conclusive - I can currently tracert the 1and1 sites I cannot access but my browser times out on them.

Bonglet's problem looks like it might be starting somewhere between VM and Telia, but then again that might be a red herring thrown up by an overworked router (routers will drop ICMP packets if they are busy as they are low priority) as afterwards the packets seem to be "flowing" smoothly until one of the hops local to the server, so it's difficult to determine. Perhaps a few more people with the same problem could post a trace.

apparently Telia had a broken fibre last night which is also causing no end of problems for World of Warcraft as this is their ISP. Also having to replace damaged hardware due to the break.

This info has come forom the WOW forums

So maybe not a VM internal issue then ( my bad ) but it seems it isnt at my end either...so who broke the internet?

;)

I can access my 1and1 websites and email (but not ftp) if I use a web proxy, which is a fat lot of use for others who also cannot get to my sites.

I have tried to report issue to both 1and1 and VM - predictably both say 'no problem here'.

Please help me diagnose.

Just tried this site without the proxy and it worked..for about 30 secs then i had to turn it back on again..

So if it isnt internal to VM then i wonder whats going on.?

---------- Post added at 16:05 ---------- Previous post was at 15:53 ----------

All seems okay again

Can now access this site and all of the ones i couldnt without the proxy okay now without it.

Wonder what happened..

There does seem to be some sort of network issue between 1&1 and VM at the moment, its knocked off my access to our test server. Fortunately its not affected the main site. It seems its not affecting ICMP, but is affecting TCP (dunno about UDP).

Edit: Wonderful isnt it, as soon as I post, its fixed :D

Ah, interesting, VM do route to 1&1 via Telia.

The site was extremely slow from about 3pm onwards, had major problems trying to post.. Now all seems to be OK..

As it was just 1and1 hosting I just waited and eventually it all went OK :)

Don't want to speak too soon but it does seem to be fixed.

Strange that I had no problems accessing cable forum or the other sites mentioned here only my own.

I could also tracert everywhere ok.

Bit peeved that both VM and 1and1 only accept resp for their end bits and won't investigate any peering issues. One day it won't come back and I'll be left with the only option of changing suppliers.

Seems to be happening again

Been on and off here all day with no issues and in the last 10 minutes im unable to get on here and my car club forum ( also 1and1 ) without using the proxy again.

Its exactly the same issue as the last time..

Everywhere else seems fine

Seems to be back online again

Wonder what the cause is....

i am having trouble getting to a few sites hosted at leaseweb.com and again its routed via Telia :(

Same problem again - 1and1, VM or telia? Take your pick - they'll deny it's them just because their Indian call centre agent has no problem accessing the sites. I can see the only solution is to vote with my feet.
