Hi All
Im a newbie here so hello everyone!
Im also new to Virgin Media so please be gentle. Ive inherited the setup from my dad as im living there now.
Ive got the 10mb VM internet connection which has the black cable modem with the VM netgear switch.
I can sometimes succesfully connect via wireless (ive changed the WPA key to something a little more complicated than what my dad had!) and all is fine. But more often than not, i cant connect and the only way to get connected is to reboot the modem and switch. This also happens if i connect a 2nd laptop to the setup. It connects but i cant get anywhere, always get page cannot be displayed errors (like a DNS issue) and i cant ping any sites not even just resolving the name.
I have also attached the lappy via the wire when this happens but still no joy.
I cant believe that i have to reboot the devices as much as i do. Are there any known issues with this setup etc. Im a techinical person by trade, but there seems no explination why this is happening and i cant see anything in the logs when i turn that on.
Any advice is appreciated.
