There are thoughts of a general widespread problem amongst 50meg users. I've started this thread to become a register of 50meg users on this forum so we can easily track who has 50meg and what they think of the service. Please don't chat on this thread and keep to one post per user. Go back and edit your post as required as information changes. I'll start so you get the idea, copy paste my post and edit for you own information:

50meg connection date: 29/5/2009
Home town (where installed): Addlestone, Surrey
Previous connection: Virgin 20meg
Is your upstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: Yes
Is your downstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: No
Is your system more or less reliable since upgrading: Less reliable.
If you have problems are they at peak time, off-peak times or all times: All times
Is your connection slow when testing external, e.g. speedtest.net, internal virgin hosts or both: Both, but particularly bad on external.
Have you ever measured downstream at 50meg on this line: Briefly on the day it was installed, never since.
Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Yes, every time.
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: No

Err how much of it is personally identifiable? Do take the tinfoil hat off :)

50meg connection date: 08/05/2009 (unlike your original post which says you are to be installed in 4 weeks ;) )
Home town (where installed): Mortlake, London
Previous connection: Virgin 20meg
Is your upstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: Yes
Is your downstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: Yes
Is your system more or less reliable since upgrading: Less reliable.
If you have problems are they at peak time, off-peak times or all times: All times
Is your connection slow when testing external, e.g. speedtest.net, internal virgin hosts or both: All, issues are local
Have you ever measured downstream at 50meg on this line: Yes, most of the time it approaches 50Mbit
Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Most of the time, sometimes measures sub-1Mbit when in strife.
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: Not until they properly fix the network in preparation, at the moment it's a bit of a lottery.

Home town (where installed): Croydon Area, Surrey
Previous connection: Virgin 20meg
Is your upstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: Yes
Is your downstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: Yes
Is your system more or less reliable since upgrading: See no difference
If you have problems are they at peak time, off-peak times or all times: No problems (although there was an area fault maybe for 20 minutes on Saturday, but this has always happened every few months on 20mb and earlier on)
Is your connection slow when testing external, e.g. speedtest.net: I never get full 50mb on speedtests, but always get 50mb on Torrents, and Direct Downloads.
Have you ever measured downstream at 50meg on this line: Everyday
Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Everyday
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: Too expensive for their uses!

Is your system more or less reliable since upgrading: See no difference
If you have problems are they at peak time, off-peak times or all times: No problems (although there is a fault that started today)
Is your connection slow when testing external, e.g. speedtest.net: I have had 53Mbit on speedtest.io have often got slightly more when using newsgroups.
Have you ever measured downstream at 50meg on this line: Yes
Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Usually 1.6Mbit
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: Don't really see it as a casual use service.

Is your system more or less reliable since upgrading: Nearly the same, 1 or 2 small problems
If you have problems are they at peak time, off-peak times or all times:

Have you ever measured downstream at 50meg on this line: Nearly all the time, only on 1gb wired, wireless is 35mb on N
Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Yes, every time.
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: If they had cable, Yes

Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Yes (but speedtest.net gives 1.3 / FTP 1.5)
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: Maybe if they needed the speed

Is your downstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: Yes (on 75-80%) of use.

If you have problems are they at peak time, off-peak times or all times: Mixture
Is your connection slow when testing external, e.g. speedtest.net, internal virgin hosts or both: Yes........speedtest, newsgroups report slow, virgin game file reports high.
Have you ever measured downstream at 50meg on this line: Yes. On install 45-48
Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Yes
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: Again maybe if they needed the speed.

Is your downstream faster since upgrading to 50meg: Yes when its working correctly
Is your system more or less reliable since upgrading: Less reliable.
If you have problems are they at peak time, off-peak times or all times: All times
Is your connection slow when testing external, e.g. speedtest.net, internal virgin hosts or both: Good speed tests for a few minutes, then connection drops to 5meg
Have you ever measured downstream at 50meg on this line: Tested a few times.
Have you ever measured upstream at 1.5meg on this line: Yes, every time.
Would you recommend 50meg to your friends: Not until mine is sorted
