Hi guys

Found this forum on google as I was searching for some help.

My PC runs Vista, and has happily co-existed with my VM 10 meg bband for well over a year.

the past few weeks I've been having problems. I can be surfing away, then you click on a link and nothing. I can have been on the internet a couple of hours or a couple of minutes. This happens maybe half a dozen times a night.
The progress bar seems to go about a 1/4 of the way and stops. The only cure is to restart the PC.

I was reading up on stuff and VM have kindly replaced by old 120 modem with a new Ambit. They tell me it's the latest model but I haven't a clue.
The one thing I've noticed since is the upstream, downstream and ethernet lights continuously flash. Only thing I haven't done yet that I could think of is change the ethernet cables.

I've logged into the modem as I've read on previous posts, but not really got a clue to be truthful.

It shows a downstream snr of 37.6db & Upstream transmit Power Level of 44.5.

I've looked in the Event Log and it shows this : -

What you cant log on still ? im confused here. If they sent you a new modem and its activated i.e. sync/ready lights on,there should be no problem. Im a technician and recently had the same problem. I called india and listened to a load of shpill, whilst trying to tell him i was a tech for vm. They sent me the latest modem and thank you. No more problems. I can see no reason why it doesn't work.

Hi & thanks for replying.

No, it works, just drops the connection for no reason and I have to restart the PC before I can surf the internet again.

What is the Downstream receive power level and did you get the modem registered by calling Tech Support and reading the address to them.

It shows a downstream snr of 37.6db & Upstream transmit Power Level of 44.5.
What's the downstream SNR?

Though if rebooting the pc rather than the modem fixes it it looks like a pc issue.
