I'm not a pharmacist but I do manage them :) Anyhows, your drugs should have a patient information leaflet in with them and you can also ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647 with any queries, its what they are there for.

Also, I think Ramrod and Salu are doctors who might be able to help.

Salu is the only legitimately qualified doc on here.

But yes, NHS Helpline is very good for things like this.

Ramrod

If you tell me what it is and what you want to clarify, I can look it up for you in my BNF tomorrow...either PM me or post here (alternatively Salu might see this thread first)

Salu is the only legitimately qualified doc on here.......as opposed to the illegitimately qualified ones :p:

Only if you want to be manipulated, rather than drugged, presumably ;)

I was initially prescribed Metoclopramide to treat nausea following chemotherapy.

It was ineffective and I was put on Ondansetron.

If you told your GP that the pills were not really working for you I'm sure he could suggest an alternative. They are after all started from the lowest cost base. ;)

I have had my heart pills changed twice now and my current ones are fine.

The pill is clled Metoclopramide. .Potentially nasty stuff. The reason why the GP wouldn't know about the possible 'side effect' you are mentioning is because I'm pretty positive that no one would have even considered such a drug 'interaction' or side effect.......

Certainly sounds like an unusual transmission path, although I suppose that depends on the natures of the er.. relationships

 Salu sayshere (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/11946-post94.html) that he is a paramedic. Is he medical doctor?

You're right Maribel I did say that initially. I was quite happy to hide behind relative anonymity when I first joined in this forum. As I was fairly new to "forums" at the time I was unsure how to balance giving medical advice whilst not compromising my GMC registration or coming across as a pseudo doctor on a needful psychological trip. As I started giving more medical advice I thought I'd better qualify it somehow and as I was involved in training paramedics at the time so I changed my profile to reflect that. As someone mentioned above, when people find out what I do they often ask "can I just..." questions...

I can't quite remember how I "came out" as such but yes I am a Doctor. I currently split my time between working as a clinical fellow in an A&E department and teaching medical students.

I have to dash but I'll look at the above question later...

Visiting a doctor once a week for psychotherapy isn't being married, Gary - that's why the consultations had to stop, isn't it? (I know you try and justify the rejection as "divorce" - it's your coping mechanism ;) ).
