View Full Version : Can Virgin withhold my Mac code?
I sick of VM and am thinking of changing suppliers? I have been told by ex VM customers that VM can be very awkward and will try to withhold your Mac code or give you a false code? Anyone else had this problem?
I've come close to leaving on a couple of occasions and have had MAC codes off them without any trouble - I can't say if they were fake as I never got round to using them.

As long as you are out of your contract period then they should give it to you with no issues.
I would imagine giving false ones would be illegal.
OFCOM have set guidelines in place now making sure no provider is able to refuse a MAC upon request as long as contractual agreements are met.
Just to clarify MAC codes are only needed for Virgin National.
Virgin Cable cannot supply MAC codes (although Sky seem to think they can!)

It is probably where the confusion has come in - especially for Cable broadband 'MAC' is something different

Also, if coming from an ADSL connection to a Cable Broadband connection, the company does not need your mac code (try explaining that to Talk Talk).
