I apologize if this is in the wrong section of the forum but i am new and not sure what to do.

At the moment i am using the Webstar DPX100 Modem, When i first got it installed almost 5-6 years ago it was working great but the passed year im going to say it has really been messing about. It is not the router as i have bought 3 different types and still the problem accures. I just randomly lose connection every hour sometimes not even 5 minutes, I'm not very good with computers but i know the basics.

My modem log page shows this:

You need to call Tech Support as they should be able to help you and they may need to send an engineer out.

Call 151 from a Virgin phone or 0845 454 1111 from any other phone.

Yeah to be honest they always say its either my computer(s) or my router. I'l give them another ring, But on friday i am upgrading to the 50mb broadband so do you think upgrading the modem will fix it or will it stay the same?

Well you will be getting a new modem on Friday for 50Mb so if you can wait till then things should improve.

Has been great so far only getting up to 10mb on my wireless though??? Thats with the wireless N usb adaptor (I am using a Netgear wndr3300 wireless router). Will test my sisters laptop which is just normal wireless and see if it's better. Main pc is hitting 49mb which is great!

They figured out why my internet was so bad, They said that my modem didn't support the 20mb that i was using so was timing out all the time. So to anyone having this problem with 20mb broadband and using the webstar dpx100 modem, you will need to get a virgin media technician to install and new modem as the webstar box doesn't cover the 20mb. I'l keep you guys updated on how its going.

If your wireless speed isn't as expected, just Google for optimisation tips.

If you've phoned tech support recently they should have offered to replace your old Webstar modem FOC.

I know, but an upgrade shouldn't be necessary in order to diagnose an existing problem.

In most cases if you call in with a DPX100 they get replaced because the frequency tends to drift but as he was upgrading the was no need for replacement plus if it was a connection issue not related to the modem it would no longer matter as by going to 50Mb he gets connected to another uBR so problem solved either way.:)

No regrets going for 50mb it is great, Had to wait 24 hours for speeds to improve as it all needed to go onto virgin media's system. Now im recieving on the wireless N 31.6mb download and 1.4mb upload which was better than my 20mg plugged into the ethernet when i was hitting around 15mb-17mb download and 0.30mb-0.40mb upload. Main pc downstairs downstairs gets around 40mb-50mb download and 1.60mb-1.70mb upload. Cannot fault it so far.

Also i did get another modem sent through before this but couldn't get it working as i'm no good with changing mac addresses and so on, so when we phoned up and found out it's £80 for install it was only an extra £10 a month for 50mb so we just upgraded the package.
