question regarding BB speedtests

I am currently on the VM Large 10Mb BB package. When I try the online speedtests I can only get around a 4Mb speed connection.
However if I am downloading via Newsgroups I get a 1100 KB/s speed so is this correct for a 10 Mb connection?

Have you followed this advice from the Virgin Media website?

I suspect optimising the connection will fix the issue.

Yes, 1100KB/s is near enough 10 Mb.
Download a large file or two from the VM (Blueyonder (ftp://ftp.blueyonder.co.uk/blueyondergames/blueyondergames/)) FTP site if you want a second opinion.
