Anyone else suffering from this loss? I know I had scheduled maintenance on the rack but other people report my server still working, but I've lost all connectivity except pinging does work...

I can't even get onto the OVH forums. I can however access everything through webcache.virginmedia.com as a proxy... Strange as you'd expect it to use the same links.

Works fine over here, as with a friend's OVH server.

Maybe its a local issue then, but I don't see how when the trace gets issues as it enters the datacenter...

Get OVH to do a trace to your IP from their nearest device to your server, check for return path issues.

I don't think its an OVH issue, other ISP's have no problem accessing it, as do other people on Virgin. I seem to be the only one pointing it to a local issue some how...

Anyway the server is currently down while they replace the power circuit on the rack (planned maintenance) so the server isn't even switched on right now to be able to ping.

It seems unrelated to VM, my non VM connections have issues with your box.

Like I said above, its down because of maintenance on the rack/room the server is in at the moment. They're replacing a power cable. But it was up before this but I had no connectivity to it for 30 minutes without using a proxy, but other ISP's did. I knew of this maintenance but if other ISP's could access it I knew it wasn't in progress yet and was an entirely different issue.

The DC estimates 20 minutes of work is left on the cable replacement so it should come back up soon, hopefully along with my connectivity...

Mines never went down at all, i've been using it all the time through tunnel since I couldn't connect from home. Still not working though.

Contact them by phone, maybe your server never came back up properly after the power was turned back on.

They do no such thing, they are not allowed to by law. If you won't e-mail or phone them then I can't help you, sorry.

Do you have proof? Accusing such a company of such things when its illegal for them to do so by law is a very serious allegation. The only time they are allowed access is if you say so or they have lawful authority if you're suspected of hosting illegal items by the appropriate authorities.

They logged in to my server to check a network fault, i provided information about the network fault which clearly showed it was not on the server side but a routing problem but they loged into my server and ran "du -h --max-depth=1" on a folder to list me files they said are illegal content and said my server will be suspended... i realised they where trying to get me off there back and after a little talk they didnt continue with the suspension.
And 1 week before that they contacted me and said they set the server to recovery mode and ONLY allowed me ftp access for the backup of my files. They said my server had been hacked and i had 3 days of downtime and had to transfer 400gb of files to another server which took me hours to find and then i couldnt get my server back till i reinstalled the operating system i had to move all files back reconfigure my server install apache and modules i needed had alot of troubles because they looked arround my server and they have access to all ovh servers with ovh ssh keys which i can remove *more info http://help.ovh.co.uk/InstallOvhKey* note that i changed the root password and they did all this with that key.

Anyway like you told me to i phoned them up and seems that all my ports are now down on my server i sent a reboot request which didnt go though untill i sent another one while i was on the phone which did go through.
I will have to set the server to recovery mode if it doesnt help and try connecting to ssh.

Thats very unusual. I know about the OVH key but it shouldn't allow them root access. Its for their monitoring script only for the Manager, and you do have the choice to remove it. Thankfully Windows servers don't have this and I changed my root password anyway.

OVH do place a lot of backdoors on their servers. If you actually remove them all and then ask for support they will complain..

They're designed to be there so they can SSH into the server and fix any issues without you being there to authorise it, its part of their service to keep your server online. If you're uncomfortable with it you can remove it but it hinders their ability to fix problems without you being there to authorise it and give them the password.
