Over the last few days, our 10mb cable broadband from VM has been consistently dropping out for no apparent reason. It'll be fine for like 5 minutes and then it'll just pop and go again.

We've eliminated our PC's/Laptops as the cause, and the Linksys wireless router, and our home network cabling from modem to router.

We've also tried plugging one laptop direct into the modem using an ethernet cable and the exact same thing happens, surfing is fine for a little while then the connection drops out.

Is it VM fooking up the line?

Below is an image of our modem, does it look okay?

Edit: we are on the Liverpool/Knowsley network

Yeh I've dealt with VM on the phone before, not wasting my money ringing those jokers who cannot even speak fecking English! I'll email them because last time when the "10mb rollout" completely spanked our connection for a month we got a fairly swift answer. VM really are twunks though, they could at least warn you, your connection is going to get raped by their "improvements" !!!

Calls are free from a VM landline.
I'd recommend posting on the virginmedia.support.broadband.cable newsgroup: http://www.virginmedia.com/customers/newsgroups/for a swift and helpful response.

cheers I'll try that forum. We don't have a landline, just internet (occasionally!).

Edit: Just tried to register on that newsgroup with OE, and it won't let me as I do not have authentication. I take it you need a VM email account to login, I don't have one!

All Virgin modems have them as not updates are allowed to download to the modem, so no need to worry about them.

You just need to be connected via your VM connection to access the newsgroups. You will need an email address so the support guys can identify your account; if you don't have one, create it in Selfcare!

Just to clarify, you don't need any credentials to use the VM newsgroups service; it will automatically let you in if you're on a VM connection. You also do not need an email address, as the newsgroup guys often just trace your account with your IP.

Also randomly, I'm on 10mb BB Size L @ £25/month. The website says, in the upgrade section L/10mb should be £20/month! Is this right? Am I paying too much?
