Hi all,

Had virgin installed last week - 20meg. At first performance was OK but it has gone downhill since. I was OK diagnosing ADSL connection probs, but cable modem :dozey:

Connected directly to modem, or via router I get the same problem (up to 2Mb, not up to 20Mb)

Can anything be derived from the following?:

Stats:
Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 5
Downstream Frequency : 339000000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 5360.537 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps32Increment4
Downstream Receive Power Level : 8.6 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 36.7 dB

Modem Log:

You'll also need to post your upstream levels.

your figures seem ok.

however, if u are still having aggro, can i advise you to maybe post on the virginmedia newsgroups.

the virgin news server is:

news.virginmedia.com

and the newsgroup u want is:

virginmedia.support.broadband.cable

the tech support guys on there are very helpful, work until 9-10pm and can check your UBR usage, connection etc remotely and will even book you a tech visit if necessary to save the exasperating conversations with overseas tech support.

i do hope u are familiar with using newsgroups :)

Ta - will maybe give them a try - tier two suspects an "amp" problem as the replacement router fixed nothing (as I suspected)...
