Whereabouts in Essex are you Smee? I'm near Walthamstow and getting similar probs!

Might be worth trying the OpenDNS servers:

208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

smee init, if it was a DNS issue i cant see why it would affect all other sites except just one.

I'm having a similar problem (Colchester, CO4). Some websites work, other's done. It's not specifically a DNS problem as I'm using OpenDNS.
I can SSH into my firewall from BT Internet, but I can't SSH in from work. There doesn't appear to be any info about it on the Virgin Media server status page. I would call them, but it's too late to be talking to India.

Thanks phoenix :)

Someone with the issue needs to call before 2nd line finish at midnight, who's going to be the brave one?

Looks like it's fixed now? Tried a few sites and they all respond at the expected speed.

This is all a little bit strange. I've been having the same problems - not able to connect to any sites except this one. Looks like it was right across the network and not just a local issue. It does seem to have been resolved except there's one site I still can't connect to: http://vancouver.cs.washington.edu/. Not a site that many would visit until you realise it is a web integrity checker - you visit the site and it lets you know if your browsing is being intercepted. The site was discovered during the Phorm discussion. Can anyone else connect to it please? Especially VM customers?

Not able to connect kursk. I've done no more than click the link, I'll leave the tracing and such to you :)

likewise cannot connect. I can connect to cs.washington.edu, and both dns lookup to different IPs. I would contact virgin with the information.

A trace route gets there ok, could the site be down?

Thanks all. Yes, the site may be down. I also tried a couple of things. In the meantime, and if anyone isn't in the know, this (http://www.cs.washington.edu/research/security/web-tripwire.html) is what it's about (although that link doesn't perform the 'integrity' check).

One of the VM guys on the forum might pick this up. It'll be worth checking periodically to see if the site comes back online.
