Problem.

I have decided to cancel my new Virgin phone service (the reasons are not important for the purposes of this thread).

The phone was installed on 27 February and Virgin offers a 28 day money back guarantee. The last day I can cancel without penalty is 26 March.

I contacted BT to get the BT line reactivated and the earliest installation date they could offer is
27 March.

I am really worried that if I contact Virgin on the 26th to tell them I am cancelling the phone they will put a stop on the line and the number port will fail. It is very important that I keep my phone number.

What should I do?

It should be ok, as porting notice is given 10 days earlier than the port date. So Virgin will know by the 17th of March - Tuesday - that your are porting your number.

This is within the MBG period.

Also by porting the number, notice is automatically given

You'll have nothing to worry about. So long as BT hold up their end of the bargain and contact VM to arrange the port out.

And you're right in not contact VM to give notice on the phone :tu:

Oh and welcome to the forum btw!!!
