Waiting.. then takes you directly to google

im in the ML6 Area and im on ubr09.uddi.blueyonder.co.uk
Cant ping bbc or Traceroute

DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.

so far i have Winsocked / Tried open DNS servers / Released Renewed / Rebooted modem / rebooted router... / set up Open DNS on the router / Removed Open DNS from Router / Reset IE settings / No Firewall / No AV

Im pretty sure this is not a PC or Router Issue... im Certain its Virgin

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on whats going on with it.

I'm having the same issue.
I'm ubr01uddi.
I can trace to the dns servers, google, anywhere else but cant ping or trace to bbc.

Unable to resolve target system name bbc.co.uk.

C:\Users\Mum>ping bbc.co.uk
Ping request could not find host bbc.co.uk. Please check the name and try again.

If you've tried OpenDNS then I've not a clue.
I also can't get to Bebo or Hotmail.

Also just tried webcache.virginmedia.com 8080
That's not working either.

Ok.. to add to this

Even BEBO / Hotmail / Virgin Media Webmail / Selfcare / POP3 / VM Status Page & more... are affected.

Including Tracerting most of these...

Just thought id sign up as im having the same problem.

I cant access the BBC, or Steam.... which is a pain because even trying to start Steam in offline mode isnt working so i cant play half of my games.

Virgin 20mb service, Bonnybridge Scotland.

Hi again lads, was just finishing a quick edit of Steams startup files to get it to play offline when it suddenly started working (i figured it had connected as it came up with updated game release info and its current downloading a games update)...

So i checked the BBC webiste and its loading as well now.

Seems like whatever Virgin was up to last night they have repaired it etc.

Cheers for letting me know i wasnt alone with the problem.

hi Same problem Here in Farnborough this afternoon . All other sites ok BBC News could not be found even tried IE - And turned off firewall for few Seconds . Came back
to life just after 1500 very Odd this as my Daughter could get ok it on her line close by

updating this . tried to Access bbc News for footy scores at 2120 no chance site
will not load or just comes up the Cannot be found have i entered name correct
etc etc All other Sites Load but are Extreemly Slow.

yup same prob here. It must be a national issue. yet all i can see is Vm trying to explain why u cant download pc guard. Plz as if we need more crap on our pc's.
