Hi, can anyone tell me if I can change the encryption type to WEP on my newly supplied router, as i want to play my ds through it , but the ds only supports wep encryption.

If you want my advice, don't use WEP. WEP is insecure and can be cracked in minutes compromising your security (fancy seeing all you bandwidth get used up by an unknown neighbour?).

Can't suggest anything else for the DS I'm affraid.
