Netgear WGR614v9 losing pw

I bought a wireless router from Virgin and although it works fine for the second time now it seems to forget the password I setup to access router settings ( changed from default as advised)
Although not a major issue I have reset twice now and would like to know why the pw will not stay permanantly?
Kinda like to check all is ok now and again!

Are you resetting it by holding the switch on the back? If so, that's a factory reset and puts the router back into its original configuration.

If you need to reboot it, just unplug and plug it back in.

when it loses my pw I have had to do both types of reset then setup pw again - but why does it then lose my pw ?

How do you mean loses your password? Are you no longer able to connect your computer to the router?

Yes when I try to login with pw it works ok - but if I dont login for a few days /weeks I find I cant access router - only way is to reset router and login using default pw? then setup new pw.
