Hi,

I'm about to upgrade to a V+ box, I already have a pace box installed from over 5 years ago, I spoke to the guy on the phone and he said that the cost for the box and installation was going to be £99, I was just wondering what the installation consists of, and whether I could just do it myself instead of having to wait around for someone to come and install it.

V+ is an engineer install only

Why is it engineer install only? Its not exactly difficult to install one, is it?

Dunno. Virgin's product, Virgin's choice of install

The signal levels are more sensitive than a normal box, may need an engineer to tweak them before it'll work.

Is that £99 price for keeping the exisiting box? As I want one but they won't let me have it for £99 unless I have existing box wired to another room for £5/month!

Only option is pay £150, which is too much!

Well the £99 + £5 per month works out at £160 over the 12 month term - so it is really no different

its so that VM can justify the £99 setup cost :)

I dont know why people think that it will cost them money to get their sky boxes repaired, if it breaks in the first 12 months sky will repair/replace it FOC. if it dies AFTER your 12 months threten to cancil and sky will repair/replace it FOC :)

How hard is the setup?

Well it's a case of the engineer unplugging the old box, plugging the new box in and activating it. However they will also check your signal levels to make sure they are within acceptable tolerances, if not they will adjust it either within your property or in the street cab.

Speak to Retentions. They installed my V+ for £30 and took the old SA4200 away. I do not have a second box. On the large tv pack I paid an extra £5 per month but have just upgraded to XL, so the £5 charge should have gone.

Customer Relations have no leeway on the £99 install fee now

Probably because Virgin's accountants got fed up with throwing money away for no reason
