I'm in Anfield and my speeds have been up and down for the last week or so. I'm on 20meg (I'm told) and tonight (22:50 hrs) my speed -from here:

http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/

dropped to 188 kbps (down) and 39 kbps (up). I've ran several checks since and they average 4750 kbps (D) and 170 kbps (U).

I used to average around 10900 (D) and 700 (U).

Virgin tell me its my PC -strange as X-Box live drops out because of poor speeds and a friends laptop (when connected to my modem) also records slow speeds too.

I think its about time Virgin admited they are way, way over subscribed and give us long standing sufferers some money back.

BTW You're not on a Motorola you're on a Cisco 10k. I was a bit confused on that one! Still on the new network anyways.

10 Meg on the 10k cmts, are you sure?
And where is Motorola mentioned in the thread?
BTW there are Motorola cmts's out there also.

I posted on the wrong thread, oops!

10Mbit is going onto the next gen CMTS at some point, some are already on there, the 10k was brought in for capacity relief originally, that it does wideband is a bonus.

You have my attention.
10k cmts that has 10Mb please or show cable modem <identifier>. And it goes without saying it would be prudent to mask the full CM MAC, or PM me the result please. Thanks.

Modems have been resegmented onto 10k CMTS for capacity relief since 2nd quarter of 2008 at least. There will be no further resegmentation onto 7246s once a next-gen CMTS is available on a hubsite, the 7246 is being obsoleted on the VM network. This isn't part of the overlay build this is business as usual capacity upgrades and not related to the migration of 20Mbit to the wideband overlay.

As I mentioned the 10k and BSR are largely being introduced to the network due to their higher density of bandwidth per RU, and because the VXRs are obsoleted by Cisco. That you can pop a Wideband SPA into a 10k, plug it into an EQAM and it does DOCSIS 3 is a bonus as is the BSR's DOCSIS 3 capability, that is not the primary reason for the equipment's deployment from the engineering perspective.

There are 10k's scattered all over the place, not all of them running wideband, some are just running standard DOCSIS 1.0 with either MC28U cards migrated from legacy chassis or MC5x20 cards with modems that have been split from legacy VXR nodes. Have a looksie I'm sure you'll find some. Check out Warrington CMTS 6.
