Hey everyone my first post even though every time i search for something related to this forum i end up here :)

Ive brought Sky+ box from ebay, sky kindly activated my sky card to enable the subscription etc, the box is working just fine..............however, there was only one signal cable coming through the wall from the dish :erm: which im sure most of you know means i can only record the channel im watching at the moment.

Has anyone got any info on what i need to buy (cable wise) and instructions on how to fit the cable to the sat dish ? to be honest i havent looked at the sat dish yet and im sure i would figure it out when i got on the roof but im trying to get all the info before getting to that stage, and im sure as hell im not calling a sky bloke out to do it when im sure i can.

Thanks for any help.

you will need a dual or quad LNB fitted to your dish then you just route a second cable.

They also supply the cable connectors and everything

Ah i see thats awesome thanks for the reply, ill go down to our local electrical suppliers and see if they have any before hitting ebay ( kind of want to do it today lol )

I take it is just a matter of unclipping or unscrewing the old one and placing the new one

I have never done it just be careful not to knock the dish I guess. Maplin will have the stuff but they will not be cheap. A friend did mine and all he did was remove the old one and put the new one on I believe. Check first though to see how many outputs your dish has

They usually just slide in and out so no unclipping :) (exept of cause unscrewing the cable from the LNB). also before going out to but the new LNB just check to make sure the existing one isnt duel/quad already :)

The alignment of a sat dish isn't just done by turning/raising/lowering the dish but also by fine tuning the rotation and position of the LNB... A little change can make a lot difference...

An extra £10 will get you a cheap little sat finder meter, they have a dial and tone with the dail/tone raising as the signal gets stronger...they're invaluable and every sat installer has one and will use one when replacing the dish or LNB.. You can though do it by hand and one way I used to do it is with a friend both either shouting at each other the picture quality/signal strength or if too distant for shouting then a cheap set of walkie/talkies are great
