Has anyone who upgraded to 50meg who had a "loyalty" discount previously kept that after the upgrade?

I just spoke with Sales about upgrading and she said that I would keep the discount, but obviously I don't want to upgrade and suddenly it disappears from my bill!

Also £50 activation fee!! u gotta be kidding!

btw, this is Huddersfield are that its now available in. I signed up to the "we will let you know when it is available" email, but never got anything. However I happened to use the postcode checker this morning, and lo and behold its available.

I had a 'loyalty' discount which isn't really a loyalty account seeing as I only pay £1 more now for 50mb - ripping me off. Anyway Sales told me that you lose your loyalty discount after upgrading.

I also signed up to when it's available, but never got anything either :P

I don't think you will get a loyalty discount anymore until a few months after as you recently upgraded + your in a new 12 month contract. You could ask them to lower the price of your bill as you are 'feeling the crunch' and thinking of moving to sky. But no, you won't get a discount off 50mb.

Mine is a discount off the whole bill, rather than off bb specifically.

The sales lady said there was no end date on the discount and she would not touch it as its a different department.. however we all know what VM's billing is like!

If you have a line on your bill that says 'Loyalty .....' then you will keep it if you upgrade to 50Mbit

However you have to pay the full price difference between the broadband you are on and the 50Mbit charge.

So
if you are on XL BB it will cost you an extra £15 a month.
if you are on L BB it will cost you an extra £27 a month
if you are on M BB it will cost you an extra £34 a month

It is a seperate line on the bill yes.

Based on what the lady said on the phone it will actually work out around £1 cheaper than what I am paying now!

IIRC it was £58ish for BB/Phone/Talk Unlimited and a few extras like caller display. Taking off my "loyalty discount" of £20 that made it ~£39. Currently for same package but with 20mb I'm paying £41..

No idea how that works, but if I didn't have to pay £80 to get connected I wouldn't be thinking twice!

How does that work then? 50mb broadband is priced at £35/month. XL (20mb) is priced at £36/month. Why the increase of an extra £15/month? I don't get it. Surely, if/when 50mb is in my area, I could swap it into my existing plan for no increase, other than the install?

OK so just rang up to order, however when they started adding the 50meg, my loyalty discount was lost.

So in summary, it would cost me £17 on top of what i currently pay. :(

I decided not to go ahead.

Very true Danny85 only if you order them at the point of install if you want the router after install you have to wait 2 - 28 days

If I am on XL for everything on the top VIP package ( movies and sport and everything ) do I still have to pay the £80 installation fee or will sales waive it.

There should be no exceptions on the £80 setup/install fee

Thanks for the answer Ben, what happens if you threaten to leave.

Still no deal. You can't exactly get 50Mbit from anywhere else, and the VIP bundle cannot be negotiated either.
