I need to extend my Virgin Broadband/TV connection down the garden to my office. I have asked several cable companies and they all give different cable codes ie. WF100 - RF100 - TX100.

My question is what is the best for low loss and outside use.

Fibre would be the best, but not cost effective.

Cat5e or Cat6 should be sufficient.

However this I think will only do the Broadband, the TV is coax cable I believe.

I want to extend my connection from the Virgin splitter, so I can have both tv and broadband in the office. At present my house is being built so i do not need a connection in the house.

So the extension has to be coax, so what is the best wf100 rf100 or tx100

As soon as you add the co-ax extension then you'll be reducing the power levels dramatically for an 80m length...This will effect your TV and broadband and one of the reasons as to why they have engineer installs as the powe levels might need raising or lowering...

80M will throw the connection way out of power budget. Be aware that it may not work for the broadband and the TV may not have any VOD, if it works at all.

I'd actually recommend involving Virgin in this, you may even find that the cost of the cable move is less than the coax plus a booster that you would almost certainly need would be.

Plus you can have a cuppa while you watch him do the cable run ;)

What if I just extended it from the box via cat5e and forget about the TV would this still dramatically reduce the signal strength

That will be fine. Cat5E is good for 100M from the router / modem.

you could always try a tv sender with remote extender especially if you have line of site from cabin to room with tv

If you want to run coax for 80 metres I think you'll need to use WF125 cable or thicker, wf100 and the others aren't enough.

I have decided to just extend the broadband from the modem so have ordered some outdoor CAT 5E cable, thanks for all the info.
