View Full Version : 20Mb speed gone to 4mb ?

Postcode De214 area

had 18+MB down , odd days of it not working etc, and of course the odd days of hours of 5mb Traffic managment, but for the last 4/5 days, i have max download of 4.5mb, uploads fine etc. i have checked inside modem root page, config files ok etc

any suggestions?

As you have checked your modem power and SNR levels and all OK, I would suggest it's a local issue causing your speed issues. Get in touch with VM tech support, either by telephone or newsgroup support.

Note: If you do post on Virgin Media's newsgroup support, please do not post any modem MAC or serial # info

u will proberbly find its either u have been STM'd or a UBR Problem.

havent you heard? you must have been one of the lucky few who won the VM New Year competition and have got a free downgrade from 20mbit to 4mbit. Don't tell everyone otherwise they might get jealous :)

and defo not STM'd have downloaded nothing since i first noticed it, and its below what stm speeds are normally, they are around 550~580, this is constant 450~480

Have wait for tomorrow, i can't use newsgroups so only phone for me,lol

It's because they've added more users to your UBR and it cant cope .

Hi I hope you'll forgive a newby jumping on this thread but I've got the same problem.

I'm from cardiff (cf14),on 10mb but since friday I've only been able to get 2mb max.

It's not stm being as the upstream has being alright threw out (500k outside of stm hours),and I'm always careful to only use it out of peak hours.

Not STM. Newsgroups are the way to go!

The are good agents in India but they all get tarred with the same brush, I should know as I have had dealings with at least two to my satisfaction, but mud sticks.
