Download Failed (1)

So I had a look in the Modem settings:

So, is this a problem my end?

Not sure what you're refering to as a problem, that connection seems fine.

Upload is slightly lower than the quoted 768000 but I don't think there's a problem with your BB.

But for a download speed of 2.5MB/s, 80kB/s upload is dead slow. It should be double that.

Nope, the 20Mb (about 2.5MB) upload speed is 768Kb (about 80KB).. The only way to get a higher upload speed on VM is either with the 50Mb account (upload is about 1.7Mb) or get a 20Mb business account (Upload is 1Mb)

PS...welcome to the forum

Your upload is fairly average for a VM connection and your download is pretty good so I would not worry to much.

you are only 20k short on your uplaod speed. To be fair although my download speed fluctates depending what time of day it is I have never had any problems with my upload speed. Might be worth running another test late evening (now) so see if it improves, other than that it looks pretty normal to me, you are geting 641kbits up and your may is 768kbit.

run the test on speedtest.io

I also get odd readings on my upload from speedtest.net but i get around 720k which is about right on speedtest.io

Max upload on 20Mb is 92Kb/s after overheads so 12Kb/s below max speed is fine mate

It is indeed and indeed it should be but that's the product! ;)

I've managed to get 2.8MB/s and 110kB/s in the past. Hi, by the way!

Then in came the rate shaping properly and all went back to normal ;)

I've managed to get 250kB/s upload, sadly not on Virgin :dunce:

Virgin basically don't support uploading beyond sending a few emails or updating your web site. It took me hours to upload a 880MB of photos to Picasa for backup the other day, and VM punished me with traffic shaping for doing it. I can't help it if I work all day and sleep at night - the evening is the only time I have to use it.

All you get is the absolute minimum upload speed required to achieve your maximum download rate. That's why the 1.5Mb upload on 50 meg was increased to 1.7Mb - it just wasn't enough to realistically sustain a 50 meg download.
