It means that the software in your modem is not updating, this would be because its locked down by Vm. So its meant to look like that, nothing to worry about :)

will I need this update?

will I need this update?
No the update will not be required or Virgin would enable it, sorry you had to ask twice.;)

Having read Gavins fist post a number of times now, I'm failing to see where he asked:
will I need this update?

whydoIneedatech, would you be so kind as to point this out to me since your eager to score some sort of point?

Thanks

Title of thread "not sure what this means in my modem config file?"

I think that is clear enough, he wanted to know what the issue was and you just said nothing to worry about but never continued and said not required so just answering his 2nd question.Puzzled by your reaction though.

I thought it was clear enough, "nothing to worry about" could be considered synonymous to "not required".

Thanks are due to both of you for answering the OP's question between you, and that's what counts ;)

Incompatible SW file

Big clue here.

I thought it meat it was an update is for a different modem - they get sent out to everyone and the compatible ones pick it up.

This bit:

DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response
they always say that - I think the DHCP server is borked.

Xoecemp, I hate the term "Oversubscribed" too but would have to add "Oversubscription" too.

Can I nominate you for most unhelpful post? /etc

Well done, the title of the thread is correctly quoted. Where does the title ask if he needs the update?

My apologies Gavin for not predicting your next question, my mind reading skills have been a little off as late. I blame the cold weather.

This is all a bit silly doing this in a public forum, so we'll do it via pm. Hope you have no objections.
