I am almost too stunned to post. After what seems like years of frustratingly low speeds from VM, for the last week my cable BB speed has rocketed. I am getting full 20MB all day and night. Its almost as though I've been assigned my own UBR :)

Nice one always good to see someone who's been annoyed for years..finally getting that issue resolved..

It probably shouldnt take as long as it does... but im sure Virgin Media have reasons why the just cant run and jump and resolve capacity / over sub issues..

im guessing its just not as easy as one would believe

Well, I have to add to this :)

Phoned up 3 days ago asking for an engineer to come out as my download speed was down to 3kb per second lol.

He arrived today and fixed the problem within 30 minutes. Well impressed I can tell ya.

Ty to tech support and the engineer!

what area are you in ? maybe you've been migrated onto the DOCSIS 3.0 now. I know that they are going to move the 10mb and 20mb customers onto it. Have they started yet ?

Same here in Nottingham. 13-19Mbps for the first time in months. It's like stepping into the sunlight!

Mine is still registering with docsis 1.

I'm at work at the moment but will check the config file to see if it says reg'd with DOCSIS 2.

My exchange has just had the 21CN stuff installed by BT, Does VM connections link to BT exchanges some how?

How do you determine what Docsis revision you're on?

I've checked the config but can't see any information except that the modem is DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compliant.

Nope

and as for Docsis version anything but the newest 50meg modem only supports up to Docsis 2.0 which 20Meg is going to be moved on, freeing up bandwidth for the 2 and 10 meg users, 20 meg users will almost have their own "channel" and the 50Meg users will be on Docsis 3.0 which is a different "channel" again

in the config it says something along the lines of 'Now reg'd with DOCSIS 1.0'

reboot the modem then check the config
