Hi, I am running Vista Business O/S on a Shuttle XPC with AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core processor 4400.
To connect to the Internet I use an NTL cable modem (Terayon TJ210). I find that I am not getting an Internet connection two out of three boot-ups even although all the modem lights are on and everything appears OK, so I have to keep rebooting ‘til I get connected. I have replaced the network cable and ‘troubleshooted’ all the settings [including the drivers on the nVidia nForce Networking Controller] but no improvement, so am really at a loss as to what is causing the problem.
Any help appreciated

You really need to get your modem replaced as that modem is about 7 years old now, and getting rather long in the tooth. And it does not work above 4meg, if you have 10 or 20meg that is.

I would call Tech Support and get them to check your connection especially as you are on a Terayon modem.

Terayon Terajet TJ210
From approx October 2001 Customers started to receive the Terayon TJ210. It is Docsis only (so will not work reliably if at all, on the parts of the network that use Eurodocsis). The TJ210 was Ethernet and USB and remained in use until April 2002.

Does not support 10 or 20Mbps Tiers of Service

There are also reports that the TJ210 does not work well in the newer 256QAM environment under circusmstances like heavy download.
