Please...

It's cable.ubr09.dudl.blueyonder.co.uk

Last time I spoke to tech support they told me I was on a port which was a greater number than the number there should have been on that UBR and they weren't sure how that could work... they did say it was very oversubscribed and I do notice speeds dropping from the 10MB they should be in daytime to about 2mb in the evenings...

Dudley is a **** part of the VM network however the ubr you are on is 50Mb enabled and is running the 50Mb now however dudley is really bad, you prob have to wait until you are put onto the DOCSIS 3.0 of the network, as there was work in dudley but that has come and gone.

Cheers broadbandking. How would I get the 50mb? Isn't it still just on trial or have I totally been out of touch on the whole 50mb thing?

it's up for release on the 15th if news is anything to go by.

it is supposedly being launched on Monday but it will only be in certain areas. Hopefully they are going to unveil a rollout plan so at least you know when you are due to be switched over. You don't have to get 50mbit if you don't want to, although it will definitely help in the short term. Eventually they are going to migrate the 20mbit users over to docsis 3 as well so you will get your speed, guaranteed, but it isnt going to be until they have finished rolling out 50mbit so you are looking around July next year.

I might look into that then, I'm on 10MB at the mo. I'd be intrigued to know what 50MB would be like but if the UBR is badly oversubscribed as suspected I'd probably still get 2mbps in the evening even on 50...

The UBR has been upgraded for Docsis 3 which means there should be MUCH more bandwidth to spare.

You won't get an upgrade on 23rd December.. VM Change Freeze starts 18th December.. So nothing will be upgraded between then and 5th Jan.

They will start moving some of the 20Mb/s customers onto the new platform in Jan 09.. So your 10Mb/s Service will start to improve greatly after Christmas.
If you want 50Mb/s you will be able to start signing up from Monday 15th.. Dudley will be the first area to go live.

I don't know the ins and outs but from what i understand the whole point of putting the 50bit dudes on docsis is because it is impossible to oversubscribe it.

Can members please only use this thread if they're enquiring about their UBR status..

Also please do not post your IP or customer number as it is a security risk

THREADS MERGED

Sorry I can't see the point in merging two threads relating to two different UBRs. Now one of the OPs is going to be a racked off when the upgrade doesn't happen tomorrow, unless SP posts back with which UBR he/she was talking about.

Even better news. The upgrade is planned for tomorrow :)

Kymmy
14-12-2008, 12:30
Or you could just read the TITLE of SP's post and see instantly that it relates to the 2nd question...

Re: And the Status of this UBR please

The reason for the merge is that exactly the same people who respond to one will respond to the other and apart from upgrade dates all other advice is likely to be the same..

You also posted this in the groups, why not read their reply?
AFAIK this forum is not an offical VM forum and the staff that read/post here are under no obligation to give status updates or offer any help at all.

Sorry if that sounds rude its not meant to, I've tried wording it differently but still reads the same way.

Due to finish tomorrow, as I read it. Except that isn't the UBR name. You are on a Finchley UBR - I only managed to find that because you didn't censor the domain name and I could find you from your IP.

Can someone give a status on this one: cpc2-salf2-0-0-cust***.manc.cable.ntl.com
As above, that isn't the UBR name. PM me the full thing, or better still your modem MAC address, and I'll check.

All looks fine. No upgrades planned or required.

Wasn't UBR 05 in dudley recently upgraded or has the congestion gone due to 50Mb upgrade?

you should remove your customer number.

Your customer number changes every time your reset your modem. It is in no way permanently linked to any one person.

Im having similar issues with ubr over subscription. I've been recieving 1 - 1.5mg download speeds in the evening on a 20mg package in Edinburgh for about three months. Tech services say there over subscription on the ubr and there is no time frame for upgrade, other than "the ticket is open".

Can anyone help me with more info on the situation/ what to do next?

Im on ubr15.sgyl.blueyonder.co.uk

Cheers for reading.

Bling, Id downgrade to 10MB to be honest. But thats all I did, and found it just as plesant as 20MB.

Where I havent experienced over subscription in my area, I still reckon 10 is about the best value. (you will still be able to keep any discounts, i hope).
