Hi, Im on the 20mb speed through my Ambit 255 modem so i guess the speedtest i've just done here is pretty good.

Just done a test at speedtest.net and the readings are as follows...

Download....19120 kb/s Upload.....736 kb/s

the download speed looks ok to me but is the upload speed about right?

The above speeds are with my modem connected direct to my pc with ethernet cable.

But the question i want to ask, is when i connect via my Belkin router (F5D7231-4) my speeds drop dramatically!!

So is my router dated and cant cope with the 20mb or could it just be my configuration?

Ahh another question is on my Ambit 255 what green lights should be solid, at the moment mine shows power/enet/sync/ready as all solid,is that correct?

cheers Ramraider

Those speeds are perfect, both up and down.

The router may only have a 10Mbps WAN port. The best recommended router on cable forum is the Linksys WRT54g with DD-WRT or Tomato firmware (you change this yourself).

The lights are normal.

What do you mean by your speeds dropping dramatically?
I am using a Belkin F5D7230-4. I dont know how it differs from yours, but I get around 15 - 16Mbps going through the router.

You could try checking the MTU size on the router and set it to 1500 if it isn't already.
