Hi,

I just joined astraweb and newsbin says I am getting 121mb/15.1mb ps
Download Failed (1) (http://img117.imageshack.us/my.php?image=121mbozy8.jpg)
I have downloaded a lot in a 10 minutes about 9 to 11 gb

WTF going on I have an Ambit 256, didn't think the modem could do over 38mb ?
So does this mean the Ambit 256 will support 50mb ?

Well the newsgroup has finished what it was doing what was getting the list data for set groups and speedtest like speedtest.net back to saying 19.6mb but I have download a total of 16.61gb in about 20/30mins in newsbin

Your modem is not capable of more than 42Mb and if you are on 20Mb your docsis will not allow a throughput of faster than 20Mb.

Clear your cache out.

Then see the difference. ;)

I just downloaded DUMeter and it shows I am running around the 20mb mark.
So it seems the program could be wrong

Obviously an error. Just shows how some of these speed test things can be weirdly reported.

If it was headers you were downloading or text groups then it's simply that astraweb support compression, Newsbin previously on powerusenet reported 9.8Mb where when I recently moved to Astraweb with compression turned on it now reports 85Mb :)

Check your newsreader for Yenc XZVER support and deselect it and you;ll see it goes back to normal (Newsbin has only recently added the support for this)
