Luton low speed or just me

Hi all

Usually my speed from giganews is a solid 2400 k/s but since the start of the week my download seems to iht a wall at 860 k/s

I have not read about any VM maintanance in my area, so not sure of the reason.

Is anyone else experiancing this or should i give VM a call to diagnose the potential problem.

since my last post I have contacted VM regarding my speed issue and they conducted some line tests.

they have assured me that the line and modem are functioning correctly.

I have connected a laptop directly to the modem to eliminate my pc and router as the problem and also connected to a different giganews server but I still get the same reduced speed.

other giganews users report no problems so I can only assume the problem is VM, any ideas on how I can pinpoint the problem and correct the issue.

I'm on *.lutn.cable.ntl.com myself and never dropped below 10Mb even during the rush hour (between 7pm and 8pm)

Have you tried any other speedtests/downloads?
Try downloading from http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/blueyondergames/demos/

i tried the speedtest, it was giving me speeds far closer to 2m connection than the 20m i am used to.

Downloading 2 game files together peeked at around 700k/s which is close to what my newsgroup connection now tops out at.

Previously i was getting a solid 2400k/s
and if i downloaded too much i was limited to around 500k/s

the speeds i am limited too see too high to be a fair use limitation and too low to ignore.

i'll give VM another call monday :(
