£9 per month - hmm.
Mobile broadband with a thingummy is better value at £5 per month...

(Unless you have free WiFi on the train like me...)

But you can't use the Mobile Broadband dongle on your phone.

Handset usage is currently £2 per megabyte which if you used the fair usage limit of 25Mb per day on the new option would work out at £50 A DAY!

True - but call me old fashioned, I use a phone to speak to people on! :D

Well so do I mostly but I use the connection to check the news and e-mail on my way to work, as I don't take a laptop with me to work.

Also going to be good for things like Live Messenger that need an always on connection

Can you download that amount on a phone??
Is it automatic - start browsing and it's 30p added to your bill, or anything else needed?

Is that going to be PAYG as well?

And is it 30p the moment you move a single byte, or 0.5p per k capped to 30p

If data is going to be cheaper, I'll have another go at trying to get Google maps mobile working.

Should be automatic, just as Bites are free at the moment but other sites are chargeable

Is that going to be PAYG as well?
Yes

30p as soon as you start using it

How Virgin Mobile compares:

Orange Daily internet cap: £2
Mobile World/Fresh/Talk Mobile/TalkTalk: £3 per MB
T-Mobile Daily Cap: £1
Vodafone: £1
O2: £1???
3 Mobile Daily Cap: 50p
Virgin Mobile: 30p

So Virgin Mobile pay as you go is now officially chepaer than Orange,T-Mobile nd Tesco pay as you go! As well as O2 for calls to other networks and Vodafone for standard UK texts.

Flat Rate pay as you go tariffs:

Virgin Mobile Daily Bonus: 15p per minute to call any network
Tesco Standard: 20p per minute
Vodafone simply: 20p per minute
Orange Racoon: 15p per minute

And unlike Orange Racoon and T-Mobile everyone, Virgin Mobile offer 5 mins and 5 texts free everyday together with Free Voicemail,Call Waiting and Call hold and calls to customer service is just 10p. And you cant get free weekend texts on Orange Racoon like Virgin Mobile!

I have been charged 30p for using Virgin Bytes today. Is this a cock-up or have I misunderstood? I thought it was supposed to come in on 8th December.

I'm with o2 and get unlimited web browsing for £0 - it's an option if you have a £35pm + contract
