Just called support and they say that my UBR update is on the 14th

"Network release date 14th November"

Interestingly enough, he said it was because of the new 50mb, which is happening early next year.

Why would you want its location as distance does not matter unlike with BT.

Are you telling me that a run of co ax will not affect the line speeds from a few metres to maybe half a kilometre.?

Science dictates there WILL be attenuation.

That is why the are amps in some the boxes, you can be like myself 6/7 miles away and still achieve 20MB.

No the work on the Dudley UBR will not have any effect on Bromsgrove one.
I have noticed a little drop off in speed but it's nothing to complain about, yet!

Just had this from viginmedia in answer to a question of mine
regarding my UBR 01 bromsgrove.
The upgrade to resolve this issue will take place on the 13th January (date subject to change). We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

They are now saying that the UBR was upgraded on the 14th. But there seems to be some problems with the network now.

ufitm

No i was told wrong in the first place upgrade in january , nothing was done on the 14/11/08 it was a tdx load causing the problem then , in the words of Victor meldrew I Do'nt Belive it

CIS
18-11-2008, 15:13
You were told that there was no upgrade on the 14th? That it was in fact a TDX load causing the problem? and did they tell you the problem was sorted?

Virgin support is now ****ing lying to me and I know it. I know it because of the info they are giving me and I’m very ****ed off.

My UBR was never going to get upgraded, it’s over subscribed and its crap. Past 4pm it’s worthless, won’t stream anything and will hardly open websites. But before this time, it’s okay at around 10mb. I’m paying for 20mb and support say that this is because of an ongoing problem, but one support lad told me this was because of an oversubscribed UBR, simple as that he said, there are too many people on it after that time and its hitting 120% capacity. He told me I would be lucky to stream from youtube when it’s like that, which is EVERY ****ing evening.

Sick to ****ing death of the lies and the service.

Get a reduction in your bill since you're not getting the service you pay for.

I just want them to tell me the truth and not the scripted **** they keep coming out with. Why the hell don't they upgrade the UBR?

UBR17 Merseyside

They said the 14th on the phone and one support rep (adam) told me it was way over subscribed. Then when ntohing changed, I called again (as he told me to if nothing changed) I did and they told me (another rep) that it was another issue altogether and that the upgrade went ahead.

Then when I called to check if the issue was being sorted, or had been sorted, they told me that the UBR was not due an upgrade, it was never done on the 14th and the problem all along was NOT too many people BUT a network problem. A network problem that (funny enough) only seem to happen at the same times every day and last for the same amount of time.

****ing lairs.

I feel your pain. Going through the same nonsence for 3 months with ubr15.sgyl.blueyonder.co.uk in edinburgh. I get the distinct impression all the engineers are busy upgrading existing working ubrs for the 50mg upgrade, and ignoring the knackered ones. Why should they upgrade something that is going to be upgraded again soon? As usual, the loser is the customer... Thanks Virgin.
