Hi guys, I'm not au fait with broadband or its speeds, but I just wondered if my service was faster or slower than average.
I'm only on 2MB service at the moment, and the speed test from www.numion.com was as follows:
kilobit/sec (kilobyte/sec)
Download speed: 182.84 (22.85) 100%
Upload speed: 80.51 (10.06) 100%
Latency: 367 milliseconds
So good or bad?
thanks
PS - I was downloading a file at the time of the speedtest - would that make any difference? Should I repeat the test?

Don't download anything whilst running the test at :
http://www.speedtest.net/
or
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/
Only takes 30 seconds.
Post what you get.

you also need to do these tests throughout the day, as speeds vary, i.e. fast in the morning, from 5pm to 10pm, sloooooooooooow, also depends where you live.

If you are a Virgin Media customer then the best speedtest is from the link below.
Have you tried going to this link to check your speeds http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/
click on blueyondergames>demos>then click on at least 2 large files around 400/500 mb and save them to your desktop, and then wait a couple of minutes then write down the transfer rates on the files that are running > times them by 8 and you will get a truer download speed.
Remember to stop and delete the files.
i.e : 250kBps X 8 = 2MB, 500kBps X 8 = 4MB, 1250kBps X 8 = 10MB, 2500kBps X 8 = 20MB
